The pile in the basement is still pretty
daunting, we had every
intention of getting
everything packed well before today. We leave tomorrow for the staging event in Philly, which is really a short
orientation to the Peace Corps and to our 32 new friends who will be going with us to
Albania. On
Tuesday we all get on a bus to JFK and fly to Germany and then on to Mother
Theresa Airport in Tirane
Albania, where will take another long bus ride to our
training site. This is where we will spend the next 3 months living with a host family, taking
language classes and
learning about our new jobs. On May 28
th we will be sworn in as Peace Corps Volunteers.
It still seems a little unreal, we both quit our jobs on February 20th, since then we have been to San Juan, Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Dominica, St. Thomas, then a quick trip up to NYC and to New Haven to see family. And somewhere in there we have been trying to sort and figure out what to do with all our stuff. A task that we now have 24 hours to finish.
To all you that we didn't get to say good-bye to in person, please forgive us and to all of you who went out of your way to say good-bye to us we had so much fun seeing you and want to say thank you so much! We are not sure how often we will be able to update this blog, but we will do our best.
